It all started when I began shopping for Jordan's cousin's baby shower gift. I knew I didn't want to get her just one item, but several little items that I collected in the weeks approaching her party. After I had all the items I wanted, I realized there wasn't a good "way" to gift them. I didn't just want to put them in a gift bag as they were all fairly tiny, and I was afraid it would look weird. Then, by chance, I thought back to one of my baby showers where two co-workers of mine put together a diaper cake for me and attached several baby items to it. I decided that would be the way I'd put together her gift, and would tie in everything I was wanting to give her. The only problem was, I wasn't quite sure how to start making a diaper cake.
Well, Google quickly became my friend and I based my design off of several websites. I didn't copy any site per se, just followed their instructions and incorporated my own design. To my surprise, the diaper cake was a hit at the baby shower and I immediately had two family members interested in them. Since then I have made five diaper cakes, and have another one in the works. I really enjoy putting the diaper cakes together, shopping for baby items, and creating homemade baby products that I include in them (these include baby wash and burp cloths and pacifier clips at the moment).
When I create a diaper cake, I strive to include items that I know mom and babies need in the first year of life. I also strive to custom make each cake for each customer, and will incorporate any requests that you may have. No cake is the same and they all represent each baby in a different way.
